BIOGRAPHY Equally at home in musical theater, opera, and straight theater, Katy Early is a multi-hyphenate artist originally from the Greater Boston area. She graduated from Oberlin College & Conservatory with a B.M. in vocal performance and a B.A. in theater 2016. Since moving to NYC, Katy has enjoyed performing in two Columbia Stages productions, The Feather Doesn't Fall Far From the Wing by Ayvaunn Penn and The Outposters by Santino DeAngelo. Most recently, she performed the roles of Margo in The Married Widow and The Cretan Woman in Idomeneo at Opera NEO, San Diego summer 2018 season. In addition to performing, Katy has been directing since she was in high school. Her college credits include Chekhov's The Bear in Oberlin College's Little Theater; Jake Heggie's chamber opera, Again in Oberlin Conservatory's Kulas Recital Hall; and Kander and Ebb's Cabaret, which she co-directed in Oberlin College's Wilder Main Space. Katy also spent three and a half years teaching Shakespeare classes and directing at the Oberlin Drama at Grafton prison program. She directed William Gibson's The Miracle Worker at the 2017 Oberlin Summer Theater Festival, Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing in 2017, and A Midsummer Night's Dream, which she co-directed with her longtime collaborator, Lillian Wooten White in 2018. She co-produced Midsummer and Much Ado with her brilliant housemates and fellow Oberlin grads in their very own backyard as part of The Juneberry Collective (www.juneberrycollective.org). New-ish to the New York City theater and music communities, Katy looks forward to lots of future collaboration in NYC in addition to Cleveland, Boston, and beyond!
